Music can raise people’s mood, get them excited, or make them calm and relaxed. It has endless posibilities since it is the only universal language to express emotions that we experience in our lives. As one of the co-founders of TIMES, we strive to bring people with musical interests together, to unite us with love and to influence a wider audience.

Piano

Hans Christian Andersen famously said, “Where words end, music begins”. I love music because of its innate ability to move people in different ways without words. In that sense, for me, music is the truest art form there is. I am fortunate to have been with many talented musicians who share the same passion all my life, including in TIMES!

piano, french horn

I embarked on my piano journey at age six and picked up the French horn during my sophomore year at high school. Since the start of my journey, music has been an integral part of my identity. From performing with orchestras to practicing in the music building for three hours every day, music has brought me so much joy, given men endless opportunities, and allowed me to discover, liberate, express myself. As the coronavirus pandemic swept across the globe, I have more than ever witnessed the healing power of music: one that rekindles hope, crosses all cultural boundaries, and unifies us even in our time of distance.

Voice, Composition

I am passionated in ethnomusicology and classical contemporary composition. Music reflects the beautiful diversity of our society. In the past four years, I composed music and film music documentaries  to retain the wonderful diversity.

piano

I started my music journey with piano back when I was six years old, and I am currently learning music composition. Over the years, I have tried many music genres and have been engaged in lots of music practices such as orchestra, band, trio, and etc. To me, the definition of music is more than a type of art that arranges sound together, but an abstraction of beauty, an expression of mood, and even a bond of unity. By joining TIMES, I wish to unveil the diverse world of music, spread the joy of music to more people, and ignite the potential passion that lays inside everyone.

Music is my way of feeling belonged without words. In a community like TIMES, even if I don’t necessarily “know” any member, we are all one part of this “human body.” Different part of the band is each one part of the human organ, rhythms bleed and circulate through our veins, and we, in the end, breath together. That is a sense of belonging that I felt no where else.

I love music because I can always find a piece that resonates with my emotional state. The things I can’t say out loud, I play out loud.

I love how the music can portrait colorful scenes and let me got goosebumps. Music enables me to see the beauty and delicacy of the world.

I love music because it acts as an outlet to me. Whenever I feel down, I turn to music. I would play a couple of tunes I love, and my mood usually ameliorates! TIMES creates a perfect opportunity for me to collabortate and share our music to a wider audience.
